About this event
Longhorn Corvette Club has missed participating in the Chilly Chili hosted by the VFW 8787 for decades. While discussing with some of the VFW members one night about commemorating the event. However, putting on that big of an event is tough. So we decided to have a relaxed chili cook-off in the warmth of the VFW Hall.
Participants and spectators will vote on their favorite, the winner who gets the most votes wins.
Spectators buy a bowl for $5 and that comes with the ability to taste all the chilis that are entered. Plus, you get 1 People's Choice Ticket to vote for your favorite. You can buy for $5 an additional 5 tickets so you can help your favorite chili get the most votes.
The Auxillary members are providing the fixin's such as cornbread, corn chips, cheese, etc. for $5 extra.

Chili Kings and Queens
The challenge is open to anyone to enter.
You pay the $25 entry fee on site; the day of the event.
Your fee includes:
5 people's choice votes, bowls for tasting other's chili, and, a fixin's ticket.
Anything goes even beans.
Bring 2 gallons of your chili to the VFW between
3:30 and 4PM to be ready to serve at 4.
We plan on sending an email to all chili entrants on Feb. 18 with any final instructions and quantities of chili needed. That's why you need to register before Feb. 17. We are trying to prevent food waste.
You will not need to bring your crockpot to keep things warm.You can bring your chili in the pot you make it or plastic containers with lids.
LCC is sponsoring the foil trays, sternos, and paper goods plus the trophy.
If you want to enter more than one chili, please register those separately. If you are bringing a guest, you will need to purchase a bowl for them as well. Also, those RSVPing to judge, we maxed out the guests +1 but you can bring more. Note each guest you bring will need to purchase their own bowl to sample and vote. The event is CASH ONLY. There is an ATM onsite if you forget.
Kelley Knight Heins took home the People's Pick back in 2018. She is planning on making another batch for this event.
